  • born in 1965, from Berlin, Germany
  • Meteorologist, Humboldt-University of Berlin
  • special interest: mesoscale phenomena, aviation meteorlogy
  • 1996-2002, 2008 Meteorologist of the German Soaring Team
  • 2003/2004 Teamcaptain of the German Team at the Military World Gliding Championships in Rieti/Italy
  • Glider licence (incl. acrobatic category), vice-president of an Association of Aviation in Berlin
  • participation  as pilot at various regional/national/international championships in France, Russian and Germany
  • MWP-project manager, in MWP he is responsible for project-coordination, wx-forecasting, meteorological route optimisation for record flights

Dr. Wolf-Dietrich Herold

 

  • born in 1951, from Nürnberg, Germany 
  • Physicist, PhD from ETH Zürich, 3 Years research scientist at Yale University, last empoyment in particle physics research at Paul Scherer Institute in Switzerland
  • Glider license 1971, participation in various regional/national contests in Germany, Switzerland, and USA, ca 2500hrs
  • soaring in different geographical and topographical regions generated a strong interest in atmospheric sciences leading to a 9 months sabbatical at NCAR, Boulder, CO to study thundercloud electrification and thermal waves using (motor-)gliders
  • in MWP he is responsible for scientific documentation

Klaus Ohlmann

  • born in 1952, from Neustadt, Germany,Dentist
  • runs his own soaring operation Quo Vadis in Serres/France
  • Glider license 1974, participation in various regional/national contests
  • Winner of several national/European championships
  • ca. 25,000hrs, record holder 3.008 km -world's longest ever glider flight; 39 world records (as at april of 2009), Flight up to Fireland (pilot report)
  • Winner of the Kuettner 2000km Price and Trophy (OSTIV-Award)
  • Specialist in wave flying
  • MWP- chief pilot, in MWP he will be responsible for flight operations as well as be main player in record attempts.
